Make-Over Experience: What to expect
When you book your photo shoot, we will talk you through what to expect and what to bring with you, giving you suggestions of the best things to wear. You can be as daring as you like, from pretty dresses and ball gowns to your favourite lingerie. The choice is yours.You are more than welcome to bring a friend or family member to the shoot to support you.

Hair
We are proud to work alongside Genesis Hair Company, one of the region's premiere hair salons. Genesis have a great team of stylists, so if you just wanted a blow dry or hair-up to something creative and wild they can do it for you.
Make-Up
AKTIV's very own Laura Rust is an incredibly talented and knowledgeable make-up artist. During your consultation, shortly after you arrive, you can discuss any ideas that you have for your look. Be it something creative and daring or if you'd just like to define and enhance Laura's got the 'know-how' to do it for you. You can read Laura's impressive profile below.
The Shoot
The majority of our customers come to us nervous about posing for the camera; but as the make-over begins and they get to know us a little better, any anxiety soon goes. Don't worry about having no experience in front of a camera, you'll be given plenty of direction and won't be asked to do anything that you don't feel comfortable with. Your creative input and ideas are also welcomed. We're here to make you feel good, whatever your age or dress size.
After your Shoot
Your images are taken through an editing process and we will then make a selection of the best images. These images are then edited and shown to you-on screen when you return for your viewing. From these images you can choose your photo/s included in your package and have the option to purchase extra photos if you would like. An optional framing service is available.
Laura Rust - Make-up Artist Profile
With a superb knowledge of both classical and new, cutting-edge make-up techniques, combined with her experience, natural flair and passion for make-up Laura is a fantastic asset to AKTIV Photography.
After completing a course at London's Camberwell Art College, Laura went on to the London College of Fashion where she gained her qualifications in Specialist Make-up. Laura has now been working as a professional make-up artist for more than ten years, during which time she has worked for some of the most renowned and up and coming make-up companies in the industry. This has included working in-house for Bobbi Brown, Laura Mercier, Guerlain and Estee Lauder. Laura has worked as a make-up demonstrator within department stores as prestigious as Harvey Nichols and Harrods. For the last six years Laura has been working full-time as a professional, freelance make-up artist and has valuable experience from a wide variety of work.
Laura has worked on shoots for high-end fashion magazines such as ID, as well as smaller independent magazines, an example of which is a new fashion editorial called Vague, most recently her work appeared in The Sunday Times fashion supplement for a shoot that she undertook with New York's "Art Fashion Guru" Sarah Baker.
Along with her knowledge of the world of fashion photography, Laura has extensive experience in television make-up. Laura worked regularly on the Channel 4 programme Freshly Squeezed as well as for the E4 Music channel. On both shows she was solely responsible for the make-up of the presenters and studio guests alike and this involved working both on set and out on location. Laura also worked as the head make-up artist at the 2008 NME awards!

Have you been applying your make-up the same way for years? Or maybe you've never worn make-up and you'd like to start.
Learn from a top make-up expert how to look gorgeous and flawless with a personal make-up lesson. Discover how to enhance your face shape and features quickly and confidently. This is a fantastic, fun way to breathe new life into your look.
In this lesson you will learn how to apply your make-up quickly, effectively and in the right colours to suit your natural colouring and personality. Laura will take you through the whole process slowly and clearly so that you leave feeling confident that you can do it yourself. There's plenty of time to discuss different looks and ask questions; and so that you remember everything, Laura will record all of her advice on your face chart.
An AKTIV make-up lesson will teach you:
- how to best care for your skin
- a quick and simple make-up routine
- make-up colours that naturally suit you
- application tips for a long-lasting look
- make-up advice for special occasions
After your lesson, you have the option to have a professional, fashion style photo shoot with your great new look for just £10!
Bridal Make-Up
£80
Laura will visit your home and carry out a trial approximately 2 weeks before your wedding. After a consultation, laura will apply your make-up and make adjustments along the way until you are 100% satisfied. Laura will then recreate your look on your wedding day.
For other members or the bridal party that wish to have professional make-up by laura for the big day, the cost is £30 for the trial and £50 for the wedding day.
